Pammadayaw 2025: “Bridging Generations, Celebrating Excellence, Empowering the Future”

Baguio City, Philippines – On March 22, 2025, the University of Baguio School of Nursing successfully hosted its annual Pammadayaw event at the UB Cardinals Gym. With the theme “Bridging Generations, Celebrating Excellence, Empowering the Future,” the event brought together students, faculty members, and UB-SON Alumni, filling the day with a spirit of camaraderie, inspiration, and recognition.

“Pammadayaw” is an Ilocano term that translates to “honoring,” “recognition,” or “celebration of excellence.” This event serves as a celebration of human potential, forms connections between generations, and a tribute to the enduring values of perseverance, humility, and shared success, while also inspiring others to strive for their best. This year’s Pammadayaw not only featured prominent speakers from various fields in nursing, but it also recognized outstanding students who demonstrated leadership and excellence throughout the academic year.

The event opened with heartfelt remarks from Ms. Angelica Cabuang and Ms. Joan Soriano, who warmly welcomed everyone and emphasized the significance of empowering young individuals to create positive change. Their words set the tone for the insightful discussions that followed.

The first alumnus to take the stage was Ms. Maricar Posidio, a registered nurse, shared her journey as a student and highlighted the significance of Leadership and Management skills. She encouraged students to embrace responsibility and teamwork in their future roles.She also added that nurses have the ability to lead and inspire change. 

Following her, Dr. Roger Junior Sinot, another esteemed alumnus, looked back and also shared his experiences as a student in the university. He expressed his gratitude to the School of Nursing that helped him in shaping his potential in his career. Furthermore, he urged students to remain committed to their education and professional development.

The audience was then captivated by Ms. Lailyn Polig, who concluded the talks by sharing her experiences and challenges along the way. She reminded students to remember three principles: Faith, Humility, and Mastery which can guide students through their career and reminding students to remain grounded as they pursue success.

In recognition of their contributions, the alumni speakers were presented with certificates of appreciation and tokens of gratitude by Ms. Darlene Delos Trinos, the Alumni Coordinator, and Ms. Emelyn Mangaoang, the Student Body Adviser, along with Ms. Angelica Cabuang and Ms. Joan Soriano. The event concluded with the Awarding of organizations and officers from the Nightingale performing arts, Nightingale band, SON Student Body Council, SON Publishing (The Sentinel), and SON Red Cross Youth Council, recognizing students who demonstrated strong leadership and dedication throughout the academic year.

As the event concluded, the speakers left inspiring and powerful messages that encouraged students to lead with purpose and pursue excellence in their personal and professional lives.
