Empowering Women: Understanding Sexual Development and Protecting Against Abuse and Harassment

November 6, 2024- A community-oriented lecture entitled “Empowering Women: Understanding Sexual Development and Protecting Against Abuse and Harassment” was conducted in Barangay Fort Del Pilar. The primary objective of the lecture was to provide 33 female participants with crucial insights regarding the physiological transformations occurring within their bodies and to inform them of their rights and the resources available for safeguarding themselves against abuse and harassment.

Acknowledging women’s susceptibility to diverse manifestations of abuse and harassment, the lecture encompassed a variety of subjects specifically designed to cater to the unique requirements of women residing in the barangay. These subjects comprised Sexual Development and Reproductive Health, Different Forms of Abuse and Harassment, Available Support Services and Resources, and Safety Planning.

By disseminating this vital information and promoting open discourse, the lecture sought to empower the women of Barangay Fort Del Pilar to cultivate a stronger sense of self-worth, identify and respond appropriately to potentially abusive circumstances, engage with support networks and resources when needed, and emerge as advocates for both themselves and other women in the community.

The lecture served as a vital step towards fostering a safer and more supportive environment for women in Barangay Fort Del Pilar. This would enhance their overall well-being and empower them to pursue healthier, more meaningful lives.
