In a historic meeting, University of Baguio and two renowned universities in China – Jining Polytechnic and Zhongke Bole (Linyi) Education Technology Co., Ltd., explored the possibility of a long-term partnership as representatives from each university attended the Exchange Meeting last March 18, 2026, at Jining Polytechnic. Li Zhuonggo, President of Jining Polytechnic, welcomed the delegates from the Philippines, led by the Dean of the School of Nursing, Dr. Helen D. Alalag, along with the six exchange students from the School of Nursing: Ajel Co, Angel Delos Santos, Mark Raiven Delos Santos, Erik Joshua Mangaoang, Jemimah Mina, and Remark Molina. Wu Yanqing, the representative of Zhongke Bole, was also in attendance to discuss the proposed tripartite agreement among the schools.

The representatives of Jining Polytechnic extended their gratitude to the University of Baguio as they received resounding feedback from their students who participated in the exchange program conducted last September 2025. They reiterated their intent to continue and expand the partnership by continuing to send exchange students between the two universities and introducing new initiatives such as faculty exchange, student research collaboration and research competitions, as well as increasing the number of students that can participate and the duration of the program. Jining Polytechnic officials proposed accommodating 15 students from the University of Baguio with an extended stay of two semesters for the next batch of exchange students.
Zhang Wei, Dean of Nursing at Jining Polytechnic, added that their students who previously attended the exchange program with the University of Baguio gave high praise to the school, especially in terms of the practical and clinical teaching, as they were able to participate in hospital duties and community health nursing rotations. Ajel Co, a second-year School of Nursing student from the University of Baguio, shared her experience of being an interpreter and assisting the Chinese students during their send-off program before they left the Philippines.
This meeting marks a significant milestone for the three institutions as they share their commitment to improving their quality of education through international collaboration.

The meeting concluded with a banquet hosted by Jining Polytechnic. Following the event, the representatives of Jining Polytechnic accompanied Dr. Alalag to the airport as she returned to the Philippines to report the details of the meeting to the University of Baguio administration. Meanwhile, the six students will remain in Jining to participate in the three-month exchange student program, where they will immerse themselves in maternal and childcare nursing in the context of Chinese health care, as well as Mandarin language classes and cultural immersions with other international students from various countries.
Overall, the meeting and exchange program solidified the commitment of the University of Baguio in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.
