PULSE: Parenting Understanding through Learning, Support, and Education” on Health and Wellness at Kadaclan Loakan-Apugan and Engineer’s Hill Barangay

Engineer’s Hill Barangay took a proactive step towards prioritizing mental health with its recent awareness program held on February 17, 2024, at the Engineer’s Hill Multi-Purpose Hall. Attended by both constituents and members of the barangay workforce, the event aimed to shed light on the importance of mental well-being and provide resources for support. Through engaging presentations and interactive sessions, participants gained insights into recognizing and addressing mental health challenges, fostering a community of understanding and support.

The program emphasized the significance of mental health in everyday life, debunking myths and stigmas surrounding the topic. Attendees were encouraged to openly discuss their experiences and concerns, fostering a supportive environment where individuals felt safe to seek help or guidance. Moreover, the inclusion of the barangay workforce highlighted the importance of mental health support within the local government, setting a positive example for other communities to follow.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education, the initiative recognized the importance of addressing mental health as part of overall well-being and providing education on mental health issues. By fostering an inclusive environment where community members and local officials could come together, Engineer’s Hill Barangay exemplified its commitment to supporting the mental health needs of its residents, contributing to the promotion of healthy lives and quality education for all.

The presence of esteemed speakers from the University of Baguio School of Nursing lent credibility and depth to the program, ensuring participants received accurate and relevant information. Through engaging discussions and interactive sessions, attendees gained a deeper understanding of mental health issues and learned practical strategies for promoting well-being.

By fostering a supportive and resilient community, the initiative also aligned with SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, ensuring that mental health support is accessible and promoting sustainable and inclusive community development.
